So I had this problem today where the wireless key had changed for one of the wireless networks I have setup on my iphone 4. So question is how do you Edit or Update or Delete the old wireless key?

Here is what I ended up doing.

1. Go the Settings, Click on Wi-Fi
2. It will take you to Wi-FI Networks screen. On top you will have Wi-Fi as ON. Just below it you will have Choose a Network... option
3. In my case, since I had to enter the new key for wireless network that was already setup before, I clicked on Other...
4.On the Other Network screen, I entered the name of the wireless network, under security, I made it WEP (mine was WEP,yours could be different), and then I got screen for password or wireless key rather, where I typed in the *new wireless key*. Thats it. I was able to join my existing wireless connection again.

Few other suggestions I found over the net.

1. Go to WiFi Networks and click on arrow next to the wireless network name and choose Forget this network. I didnt try this because the message says, this will make sure iphone doesnt automatically connects to your wireless network everytime it see's it.

2. The other one I found was to reset *only the network settings*. Now in my case I had already setup 3-4 wireless networks and I didnt want to erase them and start over again. So I didnt go this route.

Try it and let me know if it works for you.

Updated on Jan 18 2011. It seems suggestion no.1 i.e. forget this network also works. You do that and next time click on network name to connect and iphone / ipod touch will ask you for the network key password.

Java Keytool Export Private Key, PKCS#12 or .p12 export or conversion from java keystore

So, I had to create a PKCS#12 type or .p12 extension certificate from a java keystore which was created using java keytool. FYI, I have jdk 1.4.2. I came to know that using keytool you cannot export the private key.

I tried various options available in keytool i.e. create a keystore of type PKCS#12 to begin with instead of the default JKS (java keystore). -storetype PKCS12.

All this didnt work and on further search on google, I came across 2 free products which can help you a lot in terms of handling the keystore, generate keystore, export private key and so on.

The tools are portecle-1.5 http://sourceforge.net/projects/portecle/

KeyTool IUI – GUI http://www.icewalkers.com/download/KeyTool-IUI/3073/adl/

For my needs, i.e. generate a PKCS#12 certificate from an existing java keystore, portecle-1.5 worked just fine and it was very easy to use.

I also tried the KeyTool IUI – GUI just for testing the tool and it helped me to export the private key of my RSA key pair. The reason I wanted my private key in a seperate file is to use this online site which allows conversion of certificate types online. The url is https://www.sslshopper.com/ssl-converter.html.

In my last post, I mentioned how @@ROWCOUNT gets affected when MIN, MAX i.e. aggregate functions are used.

Today, I had similar issues while using EXISTS and NOT EXISTS. I was using NOT EXISTS and records were showing up when really it should have removed the results.

select col1 from tbl1 where not exists (select min(something) from tbl2 where tbl2.col9 = tbl1.col2)

select col1 from tbl1 where not exists (select distinct something from tbl2 where tbl2.col9 = tbl1.col2)

SQL Server @@ROWCOUNT returns 1 if Min Max used in query

Hi,

I came across this crazy issue today. You expect @@Rowcount to return number of rows returned by query right. But in my case it was returning 1 for 0 rows returned.
Here is an example.

SELECT *
FROM yourtable WHERE 1 = 2

SELECT @@ROWCOUNT -- THIS GIVES 0

But if you have MIN function being used, the result will be different

declare @company_id int

SELECT @company_id = min(company_id)
FROM yourtable WHERE 1 = 2

SELECT @@ROWCOUNT -- THIS GIVES 1

Apparently, since NULL was the result set, @@rowcount was giving 1 as the count.

SQL Server Insert Into Identity Column

We all know that if you have an identity column and if you try to insert a value in the identity column, you will get an error. Here is how you can avoid the error

First thing to do here is to set Identity to ON on the tblname you want to insert row in.

SET IDENTITY_INSERT tblname ON

INSERT tblname (ID,colname) VALUES(5,'ajas')

SET IDENTITY_INSERT tblname OFF

Do not forget to set IDENTITY_INSERT to off once you are done with inserting the record because you dont want it to be off if you have an application where developers will be working on it.

RDP End a Disconnected session

We all have had issues where in a RDP disconnected session wont allow other users to login until the administrator manually kills that disconnected session. Well, I just found out that there is a setting in Windows Server 2003 which would allow to automatically kill a RDP Disconnected session.

Go to Start - Administrative Tools - Terminal Services Configuration.

In Terminal Services Configuration, select Connections - RDP-Tcp. Right click RDP-Tcp and select properties. Go to sessions tab and select override user settings which is disabled by default. Here is a snapshot of the setting.

ColdFusion CFID CFTOKEN Get lastvisit timecreated from CGLOBAL

I had a recent need to get information of CFID & CFTOKEN to see how many records we have in our datasource for CDATA, CGLOBAL and also from which date i.e. Last Min date to Last Max date the CGLOBAL table has values for. So I wrote this short query and then finally i cast the column as datetime so we can sort by date otherwise the sort will occur by string.

select cast( substring(data, charindex('ts',data) + 4 , 19) as datetime) as 'lastvisit' ,
cast( substring(data, charindex('ts',data,charindex('ts',data)+4 ) + 4 , 19) as datetime) as 'timecreated', lvisit from cglobal

where charindex('ts',data) gets the first occurrence and len('2009-08-18 22:36:55') gives you an idea of how many characters you need to extract and turns out its 19 characters.

SQL Server Hidden Gem - How to get next value of Identity for a column in a table

Hi,

This is very nice tip if you ever wanted to find the next value of identity column without doing an insert, I repeat without doing an Insert.

Lets say you have a table named company. Then you would use this command

SELECT IDENT_CURRENT('company') + IDENT_INCR('company')

where IDENT_CURRENT gives the current or last identity value used by that table and IDENT_INCR gives the increment you/anyone had set during creation of table. It could 1, 2 etc depending on your logic.

The other way of finding next value of identity is after an insert statement by using SCOPE_IDENTITY(). You would add 1 or 2 and so on depending on the autoincrement setting you used during the table creation.

Unable to RDP. Enable Disable Microsoft Terminal Services Client Control mstscax.dll

So today i.e. Aug 17 2009 I was not able to remote desktop to my work computer from home. I am on WinXP Pro SP 2 with Internet Explorer 7 and I was able to remote desktop earlier without any issues.

Today, I was getting the popup message saying you need to install active x control. See below

I knew this had to do with Microsoft Terminal Services Client Control mstscax.dll and you need to enable it for RDP to work. For some reason, Internet Explorer 7, in its manage or enable disable add on feature wont show the Microsoft Terminal Services Client Control mstscax.dll. Here is a way to make it available so you can enable it.

1. When you get the pop up to install active X control as pop up , you get 2 options, Run and Dont run (install or dont install basically). I selected Dont Install. I will tell you later why I picked dont install, so hang on to that thought ;-).

2. Once I selected dont install, I got an small alert box or message info in yellow box from Internet explorer saying click here to enable / disable add on or something like that and had a hyperlink to click on. When I clicked on this hyperlink, the add ons were listed and the Microsoft Terminal Services Client Control mstscax.dll was listed at top as disabled. I enabled it and everything worked after that and I was able to Remote desktop again. Funny but when I was going through Internet explorer options to manage add ons, i was not able to see Microsoft Terminal Services Client Control mstscax.dll either enabled or disabled.

Thats it. Follow this steps and it should work for sure. About the selecting Dont install option, I kept on selecting run or install option but I kept on getting the run active x popup again and again and nothing was getting installed. So when I selected Dont run, luckily everything started working out fine.

Dalcha v/s Hawks. Aug 1 2009. Final.

After 3 weeks of thrilling and exciting games, it's the Hawks who won the CPL trophy. Like any other league game, this match was no different and the Hawks had to work hard to win the finals as the Dalcha's pushed them to the limit. We witnessed Ujwal's semi final performance which was unbelievable and in the finals, it was his counterpart Sagar, who performed brilliantly, to lead the Hawks to a famous victory.

The Hawks started with Sashi and Bhavin. Binnoy opened the bowling and gave only 5 runs of the first over. Sashi got out going for a big shot and Vinay joined Bhavin at the crease. Bhavin hit a six and four of consecutive balls and Hawks were looking good again with 16 for 1 after 2 overs. Vinay who played brilliantly in the semi final, couldnt get it going as He was not given any room by some fiery bowling from Binnoy. Kareem bowled well in the next over and got another wicket, this time of Vinay who made 5. Ujwal brought himself into the attack and got the prize wicket of Bhavin on the very first ball. The Hawks were in deep trouble under tough conditions and some smart bowling by the Dalchas. Captain Sagar joined Sirish in the middle and both started to rotate the strike well. Sagar stepped up on a day when his team needed the most. He hit 2 big straight sixes and 2 fours and suddenly the Hawks were flying high again. Sagar made an impressive 25 and was well supported by Sirish. So the Hawks finished with a decent total of 70, atleast 10 more than what it looked like when Dalcha were on the top. Kareem was pick of the bowlers for the Dalcha taking 3 wickets.

The Dalcha had become smarter team as the tournament progressed and they showed that initially in their run chase. Harsha and Manvesh started cautiously and made sure they got run a ball. The Dalcha were 12 for no loss at end of 2 overs. Manvesh was first to go as He was run out for 5. Ashish joined the party at the right time and hit a big six over mid wicket. He followed that with another four and the Dalchas were taking the game away from the Hawks. The Dalcha's were 30 for 1 after 4 overs and looked all set for a victory with classy Harsha and powerful Ashish looking in control of the run chase. Sagar bowled the 5th over and what turned out to be the game winner. He took 2 wickets and gave only 1 run as the Dalcha's were 31 for 3 after 5 overs. Ashish made 14. Ujwal joined Harsha and took singles easily. Harsha hit two timely fours and once again the Dalcha's were breathing again. They were now 41 for 3 after 6 overs. Sagar bowled the 7th over and got the big wicket of Harsha, who top scored for the Dalcha with 15 runs. At the end of the 7th over, Dalcha were 44 for 4. 21 were needed now of the last 3 overs. The 8th over resulted in 9 runs and Dalcha neeed 18 of the last 2 overs. When Ujwal got out to the bowling of Mathew Hoggard Pavan, the game slipped away from the Dalcha's. Pavan gave only 2 runs in the 9th over and took 2 wickets in what was an amazing bowling performance. Dalcha needed 16 in the last over and they got only 1 run as they finished on 56 for the loss of 8 wickets giving the Hawks, the CPL championship.

A great performance from both the teams under tough conditions. The game was played with good spirit and it was a pleasure to witness good sportsmanship from both the teams. The Dalcha got stronger and better as the tournament progressed. The Hawks on the other hand came up with close finishes, one after another, and showed they have strong batting and bowling, which is matched perfectly with their fielding.

It has been a pleasure to write about the amazing talent we have here in Chattanooga. We have seen some brilliant displays equally matched with some classy sportsmanship and friendliness. I would like to say thank you for taking the time to read the bulletins and for your feedback. Before I end this and before I forget, I have one final thing to say. I want to thank you all for such an overwhelming response and reception you gave me at the presentation ceremony. I was speechless and it was out of the world feeling . Thank you all and thank you Bindu for that big whistle of yours. I enjoyed it very much.

Birthday Cake using Coldfusion & SQL Server

So, I made this cake for one of my colleagues at work, M.J. , and I was thinking what to write on the cake.

After a while, I got this idea of why not write something which she does, i.e. write queries every now and then.

So, I wrote a CFQuery tag for her on the birthday cake.

ColdFusion is the way to go, pretty much, in normal life too. ;-)

Blazers v/s Hawks. Aug 1 2009. Semi Final 2.

Who is the man, you ask and I say, Bhavin. Fantastic, Amazing, and Brilliant, at his best; He has performed in every game and He didnt dissapoint his team in the Semi Final against Blazers. He stood tall again and his innings along with Vinays power hitting, made the difference to the game. Before I go into the match details, one more thing, I would like to add. For some reason, I forgot to give credit to star batsman Vinay, for his beautiful innings on the opening day when He scored 30 plus. When I wrote Preview for Semi Final 2, I wrote about him as one of the danger batsman to watch out for and also updated the bulletin page for that game.

The Blazers won the toss and elected to field first, which I guess most captains did in CPL and won 90% of the games. So nothing wrong with that. Sashi and Bhavin opened the innings and Ravi Bachala bowled the first over. He gave only 8 runs and it was a decent start. The Hawks started carefully and by end of 4, they were 36 for 1, with Sashi gone for 10. In came the dangerous hitting batsman Vinay. The very first over He faced, He blasted 2 sixes and 2 fours as 22 runs came of the 5th over. So from 36 in 4, Hawks were 58 at the end of 5 overs. Vinay got out going for another big hit but not until He had made a quick fire 21 of just 6 balls. Bhavin continued where Vinay had left and in the 6th over, He hit 2 big sixes over mid wicket region. In the next over, He hit 2 more sixes, this time over squre leg and the Hawks were on the top with 98 after just 7 overs. Some more big hits and good support from Pranav and Abhilash who scored 7 each, took the Hawks to the highest total of the tournament, 127. Bhavin top scored for the Hawks with 64 not out. An innings of sheer brilliance and class, as He dominated the bowlers at will. He hit 7 sixes and 2 fours and ended up with tournament record of maximum sixes in an innings.

The Blazers started with the dynamic duo of Manohar and Ramesh. Manohar started the innings with a big six over square leg, sending a message, that this game is up for grabs. He followed the six with a four and the game was wide open. 15 runs came of the first over and the Blazers had started with a thunder. But some disciplined bowling by Hawks resulted in only singles and twos. The batsmen tried to go for their shots because of the huge total they were chasing. The Blazers lost wickets regularly in the process and could not catch up with the ever increasing run rate. Manohar top scored for the Blazers with 13, followed by Sunil, who made 12. In the end, the total of 127 was too much of a task. The Hawks ended up winning this game easily. Pavan was the pick of the bowlers as He took 4 wickets.

The Blazers had one bad day at the office and that meant advantage Hawks. Just like how South Africa and Sri Lanka lost only 1 game in the whole T20 World Cup, the Blazers found themselves in the same situation. Things didnt go well from the beginning and it was an off day for them. The Hawks on the other hand went from strength to strength and came up with a victory to reach the finals.

Veterans v/s Dalcha. Aug 1 2009. Semi Final 1.

The word Ujwal means bright or you can say shining. Indeed, true to its meaning, Captain Ujwal shined when his team needed the most. He remained calm and cool and bowled probably the best over of the tournament, when it looked like they were going home early from the party.

Radha won the toss and elected to field first which was no surprise as the field was wet and conditions suited the team batting second. Ashish opened the batting with Harsha. Ashish started the proceedings with a big six over squre leg region in the very first over as 9 runs came of it. Good start right. Radha gave debutant Ramesh, who was a last minute addition, the 2nd over. What does Amchi Mumbai boy Ashish do? Well, He saw the first ball and defended it. Next ball, He whacked it way over long on for a big six. But next ball He tried again but this time it took an edge and He was caught behind by Keeper Rajesh. Another wicket fell in same fashion in the same over. End of over 2, Dalcha were 17 for 2, out of which, Ashish scored 14. He ended up top scorer for Dalcha in this game. Ujwal, played sensibly, along with Arif, who again hit a huge towering six over midwicket. Ujwal made 7, Arif made 8 and when they were out, Dalcha were 47 at end of 7 overs but had lost 5 wickets. Wickets kept on falling until Krishnan stood firm at the crease. He put on a brave show as He scored 11 not out which included a four, and made sure Dalcha finished their 10 overs. Dalcha ended up with 64 at end of 10 overs and lost 8 wickets. Remember the number of wickets, as it will get interesting later on. ;-)

The Veterans started with Chari and Neelanjan, hero of the last league game. The Veterans couldnt get it going because of some tight bowling by Ujwal and Ashish. Ujwal gave 2 runs in the first over and Ashish gave 4 in the 2nd and Veterans were stuck at only 6 runs at the end of 2 overs, probably the lowest total of the tournament after 2 overs. Ujwal bowled 3rd over and got a wicket first ball. In came Shiva, who was opener for Veterans in earlier games. First ball He faced, He hit a big, and I mean very big six over long on, keeping his tradition for hitting big sixes. Perhaps, his real name is Sehwag rather than Shiva, because thats the only way He knows to play. He was very unlucky as He was run out for 8 in just 3 balls. Bindu was the next man in. He was dropped early on in his innings and He made sure He made most of it as He hit 2 big sixes over mid wicket to up the run rate and bring back Veterans into the game. He was well supported by Captain Radha at the other end. Radha hit some fours and the game was well within Veterans reach. Binoy took 2 crucial wickets as He had Bindu caught on the boundary and in the next over, He got the prize wicket of Radha. Bindu made 16 and Radha top scored for the Veterans with 20. So after 8 overs, Veterans were 55/5 and needed only 10 of 2 overs. The 9th over was bowled by Kareem, who stepped up at the right time. He gave only 3 runs, as 3 balls were dot balls and also took 1 wicket and game changed completely. From an easy situation of 10 in 12 balls, the Veterans now needed 7 in 6 balls with 3 wickets in hand. So who would bowl last over? Ashish had bowled only 1, Ujwal 2, Kareem 3, Binnoy 3 and Arif 0. So what does Ujwal do? Bring the experienced Abdul Razzaq Arif or give Ashish a chance? He brings on himself when all eyes are set for the biggest prize at stake, the entry ticket for the final of CPL. The first ball was a single. 6 needed of 5. The next ball was a dot ball. 6 needed of 4 balls. A wicket fell on 3rd and 4th ball. So now 6 were needed of only 2 balls. 5th ball resulted in single. So now 5 were needed of just 1 ball. The last ball also resulted in single and the Veterans fell short by a small margin. Credit to Ujwal for bowling that last over under tense situation. The Veterans who looked good throughout the game and were winning easily, lost the plot in last 2 overs of the game. Kareems 9th over and Ujwal's final over resulted in a famous win for Dalcha.

Here is an interesting stat from the game. When only 7 were needed of last over, Veterans had lost only 6 wickets. What it means is, they needed only 6 runs to win the game as the tie would have resulted in a win for them, since they had lost 6 wickets compared to 8 by Dalcha. They lost 2 wickets in the last over, and a tied game would have given us another interesting stat. As per rules, 1. we look at wickets, and since they were 8 down in last over same as Dalcha's, rule 2 would have applied i.e. 2. we look at what both teams had scored after the end of 5 overs and you wont believe what was the equation. Dalcha were 30 for 4 at the end of their 5 overs and the Veterans had scored the same, yes, that is correct, 30 runs but had lost one less wicket i.e. 3. So even this rule was favouring them to win the game. Yes, it was that kind of a game and it was that close of a finish. Cricket is indeed a funny and tricky game. You never know what will happen.

DareDevils v/s Blazers. July 27 2009. Match 18.

Ravi Bachala's timely 31 enabled the Blazers to another victory. He put up a show of classy batting today for the Blazers. DareDevils fought back well but could not come up with a win. What this means is that DareDevils are out of semi final race. They play Cheetahs next in the last round robin game of the tournament.

The Blazers won the toss and elected to bat first. Ravi Bachala started the innings with Ravi K. By the time, the first wicket fell, Blazers had scored 19 of 2 overs. Ravi Bachala was timing the ball well and hit 2 sixes and 2 fours on his way to an impressive 31 runs. When He got out, the score was 59 in 5 overs. This was the break through, the DareDevils needed, as they tightened the screws on the Blazers. Sunil played his part and scored 10. Ramesh batted sensibily along with debutant Makam Ravi, to take the Blazers to a total of 84. For DareDevils, Suman took 3 wickets with his accurate bowling.

The DareDevils lost a wicket in the first over. Vinod joined Suman and both setup a partnership of 24 runs with 6 runs coming of every over. Vinod was next to go. He tried to go for his shots and was out, caught and bowled by Sunil for 15. Selva came in and started hitting shots showing his intention. Suman again played well and made a classy 16. He hit a beautiful straight drive for a four in his innings, which was a delight to watch. Selva went after the bowling but it was little too late for the DareDevils. They ended up on 74 in their 10 overs. Selva top scored with 29 not out.

Blazers v/s Veterans. July 25 2009. Match 17.

A power packed innings from Manohar resulted in a win for the Blazers in a tight last over finish. The Veterans and Blazers gave an impressive performance but Manohar's innings made the difference.

The Veterans were put in to bat by the Blazers. Shiva looks to be like Sehwag for the Veterans as He hit 2 big sixes again, one in the very first over. He made a quick fire 17. Rajesh and Radha formed a good partnership and both top scored for the Veterans with 26 runs. Both hit some amazing shots over square leg and mid wicket. Rajesh hit 3 fours and a six, Radha hit 2 sixes with one four. The Veterans scored a challenging total of 90 runs in their 10 overs.

The Blazers started with Dennis and Ramesh. Ramesh, minus his usual business formal dressing this time, started with a bang as He hit a big six over square leg. He followed that with another six and Blazers were right on track. Dennis played his part and hit a huge six over mid wicket region and the game was going away from the Veterans. But Dennis was out in the deep and now 47 were needed of the last 4 overs. Manohar came to the crease and started hitting the ball well. He took 22 runs of the 7th over over as the game changed completely. Now only 25 were needed of the 3 overs and the Blazers made sure they didnt lose the plot. The DareDevils registered their first victory of the tournament eventually knocking out Power Builders from the semi final race. Some decent batting from DareDevils made sure they got a much deserved victory in only 8 overs.

DareDevils won the toss and asked Power Builder's to bat. The Power Builders started well with Satish and Harsha. Harsha scored 20 and Satish top scored for the Power Builders with 31. The Power Builders were 37 for 1 after 4 overs and finished with only 73 in 10 overs as no other batsmen performed. Mohan picked up 3 wickets for the DareDevils followed by Senthi and Selva with 2 each.

The DareDevils started with Abhishek and Suman. Abhishek took the game away from Power Builders as He hit 2 big sixes. This is just what DareDevils needed after their tough loss a day before against the Veterans. After 2 overs, they were 22, way ahead of the required run rate. Karim bowled his heart out and gave away only 2 runs, with 1 wicket, in the 3rd over to bring back the Power Builders. Abhishek made 16. Vinod joined Suman and played some impressive shots. He took 21 of one over and it was all over for the Power Builders. Suman played good at the other end and made sure He stayed till the end. He made 17 and made sure the daemons of the Veterans game wont come alive. Vinod top scored for the DareDevils with 25 runs. The DareDevils scored 74 in 8 overs and won the game easily.

Cheetahs v/s DalCha. July 25 2009. Match 15.

The Cheetahs found themselves unlucky again as the match ended up in a very close finish. The Dalcha's would be very happy to get their 3rd win when it looked like they are about to throw the game away.

Cheetahs won the toss and asked Dalcha's to bat. The Dalchas started badly and were 3 down for 25 at the end of 5 overs. In came captain Ujwal and Arif to the crease. They started rotating strike well and got 25 runs in next 2 overs. They were 49 for 3 after 7 now and were heading towards a decent total. But Ujwal and Arif thew caution to the wind and started going after the bowlers. The last 3 overs resulted in 40 runs and Dalcha were sitting pretty with a total of 89 in 10 overs. Ujwal played a captains knock and top scored with 44 not out, with 4 fours and a six. He was very well supported by his partner Abdul Razzaq a.k.a Arif, who scored 32 not out with 3 sixes.

The Cheetahs started with Anand and Ganesh. Ganesh was first to go, bowled by Karim. Anand played good and hit a six before He was bowled by Karim for 14. Ram and Sudhakar, started playing well and formed a good partnership. Ram got out at 14 and Sudhakar made 11. Pradeep came to the crease and started hitting the ball well. Cheetahs were 56 for 4 after 6 overs and needed another 34 in last 4 overs. But they started losing wickets and when Pradeep fell, it was all over for Cheetahs. Pradeep made 21. 11 were needed of the last over and after some good shots from Ramesh, it was 3 needed from the last ball. The shot was played to long off and crazy throw resulted in an overthrow as Cheetahs got a second run and were running for the third run, which would have given them a victory. But Kareem, kept a cool head and walked over to non strikers and ran out the batsman. The game was tied but Dalcha's won, since they had lost less wickets. The Cheetahs finished with 89/8 after 10 overs. Kareem picked up 3 crucial wickets and remained cool in the end to get the run out.

Veterans v/s DareDevils. July 24 2009. Match 14

Winning is a habit they say and Veterans are the only team so far with this habit. They got their 4 straight win today with another team performance. The DareDevils were in the game but could not finish the game on a winning note.

DareDevils won the toss and put the Veterans to bat. Shiva opened the batting for Veterans and started with his usual style as He hit a six. He got out trying to go for a second run and was well short of the creaase. The other batsmen struggled to get going and suddenly the Veterans found themselves in a big hole with 7 down for only 34 runs in 6 overs. The last pair of Nilanjan and Uma started getting runs and it was looking like the Veterans would not finish their full 10 overs. But credit to Nilanjan and Uma who made sure there were no more damages and they continued taking ones and twos, followed by odd boundary. Nilanjan top scored for Veterans with 16 and Uma scored 12. Together, they put a 31 runs partnership for the last wicket. The Veterans made 65 and were staring at defeat. For DareDevils, Selva again gave a top bowling performance taking 4 wickets.

The DareDevils didnt start well and lost wickets quickly. Vinod played well and was well supported by Selva. Both of them looked like they would win for the DareDevils but lost their wickets. They both top scored with 13 runs. Once they got out, no one stepped up and it was all over for the DareDevils. They finished with only 55 runs in 10 overs giving Veterans another victory.

Hawks v/s PowerBuilders. July 23 2009. Match 13.

Just last night, I finished writing about Kareem from Dalcha. Today it was another Karim from Power Builders, who hit some crazy Afridi style sixes to guide Power Builders to a victory. The game was full of excitement and pressure. The Power Builders gave a complete team performance, much like their opponents, Hawks.

Sagar won the toss and elected to bat first. The opening duo, Sashi and Bhavin started well. They put on 18 runs of the first 2 overs. Bhavin scored 16 and Sashi made 8. The Hawks went for their shots and were caught on the boundary. Satish of Power Builders was very impressive as He caught 3 catches in the deep. Vinay was playing well and was making the life difficult for fielders, especially at long on as the ball would turn twice or thrice before reaching the fielder. You all know who was standing there. :-). Vinay was caught on the boundary by an absolutely brilliant one handed catch by Harsha. Vinay top scored for Hawks with 22 runs and in the process, hit some beautiful shots. He was well supported by who else, but Ram, who made a quick 14. Pavan and Abhilash contributed as well with scores of 7 and 5 respectively. The Hawks made a fighting total of 84. For Power Builders, Kalyan was the pick of the bowlers, as He took 4 wickets, followed by Karim (Afridi) with 3 wickets.

The Power Builders started well with Satish and Ajas. Satish again contributed at the top of the innings as He made a gritty 11. Ajas made 9. Kalyan played a good innings and hit couple of boundaries. He made 20, which turned out to be the highest score. Sameer also played an important role as he hit 9 before being caught out in the deep. By end of 6th over, Builders were 55 for 3, still needing 30 runs. It was looking like a close finish until Pranav stepped up for the 7th over. He bowled an awesome line and made life difficult for the batsmen. He ended up with a maiden and took a wicket, and there was also one run out in the same over. So from 55 for 3, it was 55 for 5 at the end of 7th over. 3 overs, 30 needed. Can they do it? Karim was still at the crease. He hit couple of big, and I mean it, very big looping sixes and the Power Builders were back in the game. So 10 were needed of the last over. After some crazy hits and running between the wickets, the match came down to last ball, as the 4th, 5th ball were dot balls. Now, 2 were needed of the last ball. How close can it be? Sagar, brought in all his fielders. Karim was at strike and the crowd didnt know what would happen. Will he go for shot or tap it for a couple? You would think that non-striker would run even before ball is being bowled, but not this time. The bowler was smart and He made sure of that as He didnt bowl and stopped to see batsman. Finally, the last ball came in and Karim failed to connect. But Reji, who was at non strikers end, made good ground and ran as if He is running for his life. The batsmen went through with the first run and came back for a second. Karim was runout at keepers end, resulting in a tie. yes, it is a Tie. This is the first tie game but the Power Builders won the game since they lost fewer wickets than the Hawks. What a finish, to this close game.

Winning & Losing is all part of the game. Apart from the thrilling finish, what was beautiful to watch was the spirit of both the teams. The game started with Hawks batting and Sagar their captain as the leg umpire. Yes, that is correct. Power Builders had the same trust in Hawks, as Hawks had in their opponents. The game progressed with everyone smiling and congratulating each other on appropriate occasion. A sight, very rarely seen these days. Even though, Hawks ended up losing the game, you have to admire and respect the Hawks for their strong character & gamesmanship. Sagar and his team mates made sure they congratulated the Power Builders with Hand Shakes and Smile. A message to all teams, that play with passion but also make sure you respect your opponent and shake hands at the end of the game. The Hawks have once again showed us that they are classy group.

Hi,

This post covers 3 amazing functions in SQL Server 2000 ( I am sure you can use them in SQL 2005 or 2008 for that matter). They are Replace, Substring and CharIndex.

So my challenge was to replace ssn in a text and return the full text with only SSN part formatted as SSN : xxx-xx-1234 format. So I combined these functions this way.

1. first find the place/locations where the text SSN appears in the column using
charindex('ssn',status)

2. then use Substring to use the number returned from step 1 and give the lenght of characters to be returned
substring(status,charindex('ssn',status), 11)

3. Finally use replace function, to use step 2 and step 1 i.e. replace the characters returned by both steps with your text i.e.

select replace(status, substring(status,charindex('ssn',status), 11), 'SSN : xxx-xx-') from sometable where condition = condition.

You might have heard about CF's undocumented features. One of them came in really handy for me. Its the getPageContext() Method. Using this method, we can list all variable scopes. You could do something like this

Hi,

One of our colleague got a new Dell Latitude laptop and when he was trying to remote desktop i.e. remotely login to his work pc, he was getting a message in Internet Explorer saying You need to enable the add-on or Active X control needs to be installed.

Step 1. If the Active X control is not installed, please go ahead and install it.

Step 2. If you are still not able to access remote desktop and get message saying enable the add-on, you would have to download XP SP3, extract the files and run the following 2 files

Tscdsbl.bat Tscuinst.vbs

That fixed the problem for me.

Hi,

I just ended up installing DW CS4 and I noticed some cool features.

1. Go to File Menu, and select Share My Screen.
Within minutes after you install Adobe Connect Plug In and the user you invite installs the plug in as well, you will be able to share screens.

It just took me and my co-worker(thanks MJ), 2 minutes to test this feature.

2. Another feature. Code Split. You can split the code into 2 parts, so you could be scrolling the code in top section and view the top part or any part at the bottom view. To do this, in your DW, on the very top next to where Menu ends, there is a layout button. If you click on that, you will see different options and one of them is split code.

3. The one I really like the most is the *View Related Files*. We have several includes in our coldfusion code and this features lets me see all the files that are related to this cfm template.

I will update this post later.

Moving Bookmarks only --- backup of bookmarks in Firefox

In Windows XP, Firefox profile folder is located at "%APPDATA%\Mozilla\". Firefox saves backup copy of your bookmarks in the "%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\sometext.default\bookmarkbackups" folder. So all you have to do is in your new FF instance, go to the profiles\sometext.default folder, and replace the old bookmarks.html file with the one you are copying over.

Thats all to it. Within a minute you can have your bookmarks in the new FF instance. This is the manual way of doing it. FF has import wizard which will do the same for you. I found this method since I was working on 2 machines and I just wanted to take bookmarks on new machine without any extensions.

Making text bold in Adobe Acrobat

If you want to make a text bold in Adobe Acrobat, you will have to

1. first select Advanced Editing Toolbar.

2. In advanced edit toolbar, select TouchUp Text tool.

3. Then select the text you want to make bold, right click, and select properties.

4. Under Text tab, you will find Font option.

5. Select Font option and you will see Bold option for the font that is being used. For example, if selected text is font type Verdana, then under Fonts option, you should see a Verdana Bold option. If you do not see respective Bold Font, then you would have to pick a font that supports Bold Option.

I know, its unlike Word but atleast we know the way now how to do make text bold in Adobe Acrobat.

Dreamweaver 8 Export Import Multiple Site Definitions in less than 5 minutes.

Exporting or Importing Site Definitions in Dreamweaver is important if you have a lot of sites and if you want to setup new environment. This tutorial will help you get it done in less than 5 minutes.

Open Dreamweaver, Go to Site Menu, Select Manage Sites option. You will see the list of sites you have configured in your DreamWeaver editor. Select the site which you want to export the site definition of, and select the button Export from list of options. It will ask you to save the site definition as a nameoffile.ste file. Save it at a convenient location.

For importing, do the same steps as above, except that you will select IMPORT button instead of export button. Select the location of *.ste file and you will have site definition setup in your new environment.

Tips & Tricks : Lot of people want multiple sites to be imported and the trick for this is that when you are exporting, hold the CNTL key and select all the sites you want or need in new environment. Hit export button and Dreamweaver will ask you to save the site definitions of each individual site one at a time. This way, you dont have to keep on exporting one site at a time. Thats it you are done.

Now when you want to import, just follow the steps I mentioned above and select all site definitions or only the ones you are interested in and Dreamweaver will import it for you.

Decimal datatype in sql server 2000

The decimal data type in sql server 2000 has precision and scale.

The precision defines how many length of chars that can exist from left to right including the the numbers after the decimal point.

For example col1 decimal(3,2) can contain total of 3 numbers. 9.20 is valid whereas 99.2 is invalid because sql server will add a zero at end to make it 99.20 and that invalidates the rule of precision 3.

try this

drop table testDec2

create table testDec2(col1 decimal(8,2))

insert into testDec2 values (999996.9999999)
--number on left is of len 6 and even thogh we have 7 digits after decimal point, sql -- will truncate the number to insert 999997.00 . Notice the rounding.

-- if you try to insert 999999.99 it wont work because of rounding. The number will
-- be 1000000.00 i.e. total of 9 chars.

Outlook appearance like Gmail Conversation style

Right click on From, or Subject and select Field Chooser. Select Conversation and drag it to any place where From, Subject etc appear. Conversation will appear along From, Subject wherever you have placed it. Right Click Conversation and select Group by this field.

Thats it. You are done. I got a message saying cant group by Date and conversation. so I sorted my mail by sender and then clicked on conversation. It worked for me. Make sure you arrange mail in such a way that the new email is listed on top.

Translators not loaded --- Translators error in Dreamweaver for coldfusion.htm

I use Dreamweaver 8 on Windows XP and recently started to get this error message for no reason. It just started one day.

the following translators were not loaded due to errors coldfusion.htm has configuration information that is invalid.

This could also happen for
XSLT.htm has configuration information that is invalid,
ASP.htm: has configuration information that is invalid.
ASP.NET.htm: has configuration information that is invalid.
and so on.

The solution to this problem is to delete FileCache_X.dat files from the Dreamweaver user configuration folder, where X is a random number and it could be different for your system. See below

Dreamweaver 8 on Windows XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver 8\Configuration

CFSchedule task - how to schedule a job in ColdFusion 7

This article will show how to schedule an automated job in ColdFusion 7 using CF administrator.

Login to CF 7 Administrator and from left hand side, under Debugging & Logging, select Scheduled Tasks Option. Select create new.

Under task name enter a task name, start date enter the date from which you want to start scheduled task, you could set daily or monthly depending on your preference and make sure specify time, in my case i entered 9:00 AM, under URL I entered my url like this,
http://myipaddress/MonthlyReport - DontDelete/R_monthlyreport.cfm where
MonthlyReport - DontDelete is a folder to make sure our report runs without any authentication that is usually specified in Root/Application.cfm. Instead of IPAddress, you could enter a url to a site as well but make sure you have right permissions.

Finally, you could do save output to file and make sure specify the path to output file like this C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\clientname\MonthlyReport - Dont Delete\RepOut.htm

Thats all, and you have an automated coldfusion job scheduled to run.

Coldfusion 7 - Accessing images from a network share

Webex file extension .wrf will not open or rendered by IIS web server

We recently moved our web application to new server and we noticed that the webex files with extension .wrf was not being shown to user or was not being rendered by IIS. So on doing further research, I came to know that we needed to set a MIME type for the wrf extension. The .wrf extension needs to be set to application/octet-stream.

Go to IIS settings, select the website or the web root folder and right click and select properties. Click on HTTP Headers tab and the bottom click on MIME Types button. Click new button and add .wrf in extension and application/octet-stream in MIME Type text box. Click OK and Apply at next screen and you should be done.

After I clicked OK and Apply, the screen Inheritance override was shown. I said cancel to all. Here is some info from IIS help.
If you set or change a MIME type that conflicts with a setting at another node in the hierarchy, you are prompted with an Inheritance Override dialog box where you can specify the nodes to which the new setting applies.

In this Inheritance Override dialog box, I said cancel, but IIS ended up adding this new MIME TYPE setting to all the websites under the root website folder.

If you are using an ISAPI extension to process the file and if you send a request, you would need to add the ISAPI dll to the Web Service Extensions list.

Redirect using Coldfusion or Redirect using IIS

I have a client who has url say www.xyz.com. They want a new url www.abc.com so that when user enters www.xyz.com, the user should see www.abc.com in his address bar of browser. Basically an alias/redirection with address bar showing the new url. I could have done redirection by dns names/url redirection at website level but problem is I have a subfolder application i.e. www.xyz.com/subapp.

Now if I do dns/url redirection, and user tries to access subfolder application with this url, www.xyz.com/subapp/home.cfm, it takes the user automatically to www.abc.com/home.cfm i.e. the main application without the subfolder application, and I dont want that. It should take user to www.abc.com/subfolder/home.cfm.

So to avoid this redirection at the website level, I added this code in Application.cfm

But I found a better solution after going through IIS documentation. See below.

What I did is, went to IIS 6, website, properties, Home Directory and under Resource, I selected A Redirection to a URL and in Redirect to field, I entered my new url appended with $S and $Q. For example, www.abc.com$S$Q.

$S as per IIS docs, Passes the matched suffix of the requested URL. The matched suffix is the portion of the original URL that remains after the redirected URL is substituted.

$Q Passes both the question mark (?) and the parameters from the original URL.

so now, www.xyz.com/subapp/home.cfm takes me to www.abc.com/subapp/home.cfm and lets say if i have
www.xyz.com/subapp/home.cfm?var1=yes then its www.abc.com/subapp/home.cfm?var1=yes . The caveat here to note is that, if I did not append $Q, the var1 was not being passed to the new url. So adding $Q fixed that issue.

Last thing, under The client will be sent to option, I selected The exact URL entered above.

Coldfusion CFSELECT Validation Fails

Most of us have issues with Coldfusion CFSELECT Validation i.e. form submits even though he didnt select an entry from drop down list and you have validation in CFSELECT . Here is the solution to this issue.

1. The validation works only if you have size attribute of cfselect set to a value greater than 1.

Here is my code that works

<cfselect name="sec_question" required="yes" message="You must select a security question to reset your password." size="2">

<option value="1">What is your mother's maiden name?
<option value="2">In what city were you born?
<option value="3">What is the title of your favorite book?
<option value="4">What is your favorite pet's name?

</cfselect>

2. Here are some observations

a. I didnt require selected="" attribute inside cfselect

b. I didnt require Please select a value i.e. with a space or without space(either way, I tried and it didnt work)

So try this and I am sure you wont be dissapointed. It took me a while to figure it out and I tried different options before I succeeded.

So you want to start your Green Card process? ;-)

I will outline here, the works that needs to completed from start to finish in the Green Card Process.

The very first step in the process is to place an ad in the newspapers about the position you are currently working on. I know it sounds little strange but thats how it is. This is usually done by attorneys and your HR plays a big role in it.

Once the ad part is done, the attorney files for the labor application. This takes anywhere from 2-3 months for approval. If your labor is denied, your application dies there and you have to start over the whole process again.

I. Documents for labor application.

1) All status documents i.e. if you are on H1B, then all I-797 documents are required.
2)All experience letters from past employers. Some attorneys ask for originals. Any other experience letter supporting the newspaper AD might be required as well. This could be from your employer, professor etc. The idea is to support the ad indicating you have the required experience to perform the job.
3)Degree certificates, transcripts etc

Once the labor application is approved, you can file for I-140 stage which is the 2nd step towards Green Card Process.

II. Documents for I-140 application.

ETA750B is required for this stage. This form has entries for your work experience, your education and so on. Again, the work history which you mention here should match exactly with the newspaper Ad. The attorneys are very particular about this and they will inform you as to what is missing. Atleast, the good attorneys will do this, I am not sure about others.

The I-140 application could be filed with premium processing or regular processing. With premium processing you can get the result in about 2 weeks. You can also file your third step along with the the I-140 application as per the new rule.

III. Documents for 3rd step/adjustment of status application.

The 3rd stage i.e. adjustment of status can be filed with the 2 optional add ons i.e. Work Authorization aka EAD and Travel Document aka Advance Parole. Since it might take long for 3rd stage to complete, many people prefer to file EAD & Advance Parole with there adjustment of status application.

If you are married then you need to provide documents for your wife also.

Please begin collecting the following documentation for both you and your wife. These will be required for submission with your adjustment application package:

1. Birth certificates (translation required if not in English). The birth certificate must bear the names of both parents. If you dont have birth certificate, then you need to provide 2 affidavits and 1 non availability certificate from local muncipal office or govt office.

2. Marriage Certificate.

3. Divorce Decrees.

4. Military Records.

5. Photographs (6 required ). This can be taken at walmart or walgreens. Usually done in 1 hr service.

6. Maintenance of status docuemnts for entire period in the United States, including Form I-797 Notices of Action, Form I-20, old EAD cards , etc.

7. Complete copies of all passports in your possession – current and expired – including all blank pages.

8. You will need to undergo a medical examination by a USCIS designated physician. Lists of physicians for your area can be found at https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=offices.type&OfficeLocator.office_type=CIV.

As part of the medical examination, you will need evidence of certain vaccinations as per the attached list. Please review the CDC medical update as well. Please check with your physician regarding vaccinations exemptions that may be applicable. This might cost around 300 to 400 dollars depending on what kind of vaccinations you need.

Forms

Form I-485, G-325A, I-765 and I-131. Along with these forms, you have to provide G28 which is basically giving authorization to your attorney to represent you.

Hi,

Yesterday i.e. May 17th 2007 I attended the Scorpio road tour hosted by none other than Mr. Ben Forta. It was a great presentation and He made it lively with his comments and answers to some of the questions people had during the session. Overall the meeting was great and it was a good experience to meet someone who is the brains behind Coldfusion. It looks like CF 8 would be released in Mid of this year i.e. maybe around Aug or Sept.

For the technical side, Ben showed some cool stuff with the code and some new features that have been added in ColdFusion 8. Some enhancements which are worth mentioning are

1)ability to use Ajax for better applications

2) nice pdf features like merging etc

3) ability to control administrator with different access levels

4) threading

5) new text area box … I love this one…. So for example, you don’t have to type html like ajas etc. The text area box will have icons on the top just like how you have it in MS word or even Outlook to make text italics,bold or whatever you want without you having to know html.

6) Nice grid control with tabs

7) You can have popups which are not exactly popups in the sense that it would show on the screen but browsers wont hide them as they hide popups. That’s a very nice feature.

8) Better image handling possibilities with <cfimage> tag

9) Better file handling with new tags

Windows Drive Letter Issues with USB Drive. USB drive not shown in My Computer

One of the very common problems faced by users is that if you use more than one usb drive, then chances are one of them might not be listed when you open MY Computer. To solve this issue, Right click My Computer, Select Manage, and Under Storage, Select Disk Management. Now from here you can change the Drive Letter and assign a new one or just go to Address bar of Windows explorer and type in the drive letter shown next to the USB Drive which is not listed in My Computer. In my case, I had F: drive assigned for USB and then I attached external hard drive which took the F: drive letter making my USB drive not listed in My computer. I did steps mentioned above and found that infact its using G: as drive letter. Type G: in windows explorer and I could view the files on my USB drive.

Dell Latitude D820 Images from all possible angles. Plus Latitude D820 comparision with Latitude D600 in my office. D820 is on Right hand side. I have noticed and everyone in office that my screen is not bright when compared to the 3 yr old D600 or my old Inspiron 5100. My Latitude D820 came with Samsung screen.

I brought New Dell Latitude D820 and the screen looks dull to me at full brightness. I have WUXGA @
1920 * 1200 resolution. I have tried all dpi i.e 120 / 135 / 150 and the quality is the same. Here are some snapshots :

First image, look at the color of the clock for google home page with IE browser.

Compare it against FF view

Desktop Icons on D820 also look fuzzy

I use Subversion with TortoiseSVN which is a Windows like interface for performing all the subversion commands. My environment is like this :
Dreamweaver & Eclipse for development i.e locally, TortoiseSVN installed locally and subversion is in on the server machine where the code resides lets say Dev machine.

I am using TortoiseSVN 1.3.2, Build 5840 - 32 Bit for Subversion 1.3.0. I dont know if you were asking for SVN for Dreamweaver which is a plugin which gives the functionality to use subversion commands from Dreamweaver. Clarify this since SVN, Subversion, SVN for Dreamweaver can get confusing sometimes.

Personally, I didnt like the SVN for Dreamweaver because it didnt look very professional to me. I mean ease of use and functionality wise. I love TortoiseSVN a lot and it works great. The best part is that if you like working in Eclipse, you can use this plugin/extension called Subclipse. I found that using Subversion commands thru Subclipse is the fastest/efficient way of doing things even though I use Dreamweaver a lot. When I am coding in Dreamweaver and after saving changes to the code, I go to dev directory and use TortoiseSVN commands to commit files. You dont have to do all this if you have Subclipse plugin installed in Eclipse. You can commit your changes within eclipse IDE.
